lang lang lang

i hate eugene lang.
i do not belong here.
we'll see.
puis, arianna and i went to this ghetto food shop and had a decent panini with a gross lemon tart
then i wandered off to do errands (what an american word)
got this johnathan conditioner (bleh going to return)
then waited half an hour at the food emporium for a freaking card....
off to barneys, the perfume tempted me. arianna saved me (and killed me)
we saw jay manuel. laaaaame.
we tried to go to this austrian café, but it was closed after walking 50 blocks....die
we then died in central park and got back home
ben was too nice and got rosemary....started making curry - too good.
i died. i miss asian life.
2 alarms. die you idiots....please educate yourself.
ugh can't sleep. watched the make it or break it finale...bleh...
tested pianos in the lounge. they are shit.
please try again new school.
p.s. is that a frank gehry?

mashed
i can't explicate everything in detail so:
moving in was a rush
ben's super nice
room is decent
i love the access in this city
arrianna and kristen is the new possé.
we went to like 3 pastry shops
grocery shopping is weird because you buy things that are "supposed" to be in the kitchen...and i'm starting from scratch.
a lot of fun people. it's funny how they also are nervous to meet others.
that's what ice breakers are for.
can't really tell much...it's just....
obviously not in a writing mood...
ciao

presque

ikea, encore.
i knew what i needed to get: did my research, went previously back in the west.
i got my children's duvet/pillow cover, kitchen basics, and surge thing.
afterwards, i went into a severe yet abrupt coma.
then went to a ghetto H-Mart. but they covered me with basic asian food needs. though ironically i got pastas and forgot soy sauce.
i miss the sanitary dryness of california.
i can't wait to settle into my new niche: 4th floor with the view of the park and the empire.
need:
camera
art supplies
textbook
40% humidity
i'm ready to become a local peg-leger.

departures

so my last day, the plan - breakfast with paris....but she had "errands" ("ha, such an american word") so it was was postponed to 10.....then 11....then to 12. (P.S. thank you for the soap).
well, i got some gas...went to blockbuster where they FINALLY had the Pianist - i still trusted the Cannes Film Festival jury.
at 12 we met, in awkward happenstance. off to not breakfast, not brunch, but IKEA.
it was fun browsing uselessly through the furniture display rooms. lunch: swedish meatballz
then back home - with a "moving" hug. soon, as i was on my way back to DB, i called chris to...have one last idle hang out.
we saw The Pianist - just another "schindler's list"....but done with more modern yet literal cinematography. i mean....it was a good point of view - showing how music...or passion for music or anything caries people through everything but....meh. i guess it was a nice personal story from polanski. but the Chopin was perfect. after, we just lazily watched TV. then i had to go. a hug. a goodbye. a question. and a wave. didn't expect it to be that simple. tristesse.
take off: 45 min delay due to a broken toilette door.
met a malaysian girl.
horrible seats- couldn't recline.
the first 2 hours were the slowest of my life - it felt like i experience he dumping of the eminent time difference. but the second half went by quickly thanks to "confessions of a shopaholic" - rebbeca, i speak prada too.
as i walk ot of the plane - something familiar hit me - humidity. as i loaded the luggage into the car of my dad's old friend.........sweat.
got home to silence, moisture, and hunger.
i checked out my luggage- emptied out deliveries to uncle and sat down to watch 2 hours of food network and travel. and fell asleep to pokemon.
so far so good.

route du thé

allyson had work on monday so we planned out a totally impromptu rendez-vous, a goodbye tea party.
she bought scones, bekka brought salad.
i made:
egg salad cucumber open-faced sandwiches
madeleines
3 berry empanadas
tomato bruschetta
mushroom-pine nut crustini
salami-pesto panini
banana-chocolate pavlova
beverages: lavender-ceylon, green tea- barley rose, strawberry lemonade
too much food, we all became diabetic.
from 4-7 all we did was talk, haphazardly structured from dorm life to jeanette's beating.
ava was too nice. she got me a gift. a mini rice cooker, a framed picture of us back in sophomore year, and a nice card. realization of what we've gone through.
it was just nice to....relax. after being in the kitchen 3pm-1am the previous day.
it was subtly awkward saying goodbye. i knew i would see them again but it never occurred to me that it wasn't school or the classes that held us together.
i didn't want that afternoon to end. at least it ended with the perfect embrace.
i soon cleaned after the mess. died a little. and wasted time just thinking.
once they were done with the old movie i went to blockbuster for 30 mins or so to decide on A Beautiful Mind.
ever since gimin-sneha and i saw "the class," i did not trust the praises and awards they boast.
i was skeptical - the movie felt old -very '98, the soundtrack was mediocre....the beginning; slow.
but that twist - it sparked the drama. decently portrayed i was attached. i wanted it to be more subtle - less literal and more abstract or vague - if s, that would've increased confusion which might've created a stronger relation between the audience and john.
i then saw crone and poirier's new original dance - flamenco. subtle and mature. can't wait.
sigh sigh
sigh
i realized the significance of each person that came to mind - perhaps it was my version of a reality check - i had the thought of being the next john nash. pensive and nostalgic.

miss, missed, missing

impromptu night with chris - along with an hour call from frère.
we burnt the popcorn - i thought adding garlic to the oil would flavor it....
didn't go wait outside for meteors.
saw Faubourg 36 (aka Paris 36) - i rented it before but didnt watch it falsely discovering it was a musical. but it was surprisingly good. ideally a French soundtrack - i'm officially in love with the accordion. they used it so well. allez jojo. one thing i didn't like was the fact that they didnt show older jojo play...
i couldn't sleep that night, so i played pokémon till i died.
i set the alarm for 7am but miraculously woke up 6:30.
i was off to say goodbye to erica.
it was extremely quick and awkward.
i only said 3 words. a hug. and i just walked away.
never been so....moved.
ikea with paris?

i wanna remember us just as we are now

remy-chalise planned a meet-up lunch at this lame taiwanese eatery.
meet time was 12pm. i woke up 12pm.
took chris, aka +1 hour.
got there, weird. after, we went to the mall, weird.
on the way home chris and i passed by market to get ingredients for quiche. since he loved my sample so much.
got home, died. searched for my future foto-aparat. found a decent sony ($230 ish) pas mal? 10.1MP, 10x zoom, chunky, popup flash, 3inch LCD, HD movie, and more!
yeah i think its THE one.
soon after my 50 hour search, i decided to start quiche-ing.
took me way less time compared to paris' kitchen. i was more comfortable and ....speedier. almost as if i had a deadline. and this time i stuffed the baby croissants with more chocolate.
all turned out well - a little salty but hey, everyone loves sodium.
soon, gimin started brewing plans for tomorrow - indian fest in irvine...ehhhhh
went to chris' house. he feasted on the 1/4th quiche and baby croissants as we witnessed NEWS in diamond bar. apparently someone got into one of them houses in da country.
next, we started audrey-fest pt. deux. il l'aime bcp.
half the time i was partying with bricka i missed her.
after we just sat and talked to the travel show we were watching and the richmond song plays - i needed to go home
déjà vu: rushing sprinklers, orange lights, opened windows
but this time i got scared - i thought i heard someone call my name as i turned up my chopin.......

c'est il
i rushed from blockbuster thinking he'd be there waiting. and he was. saw mrs. E on her way out on the street. it was awkward. horribly awkward. it felt foreign - like it was his first time into the house. it's been too long since.
like always, plans were pushed and in come our impromptu indolent hang outs. in the room reading through a french beverage book. by the piano dying to chopin. in the kitchen savoring quiche. like always.
he kept insisting that it has been a while. he joke how paris has replaced him. funny - she did, in a way. he asked "is new york long-distance?"
we watched "a very long engagement" (with audrey tautou) and benjamin button.
two intense romances. just shows how truly we are similar.
mother fed us wok.
he took his shorts.
we dropped him off around 1:30. i remember those nights i would stumble out of a coma in his house to drive home. with windows opened. the sound of the late-night sprinklers rushing. the orange tinge of the street lamps create a mood of ....timelessness.
memories preserved forever.
i will miss him dearly.
but of course, it is not the end.

bon appétit!

julie & julia with paris
she was late - we missed the trailers. thanks paris!
it was an overall sweet movie. it was horribly awkward seeing "mr. child" aka nigel from the devil wears prada makeout with "julia child" aka miranda priestly. but yeah terribly cute at parts: "you are the bread to my butter, the breath to my life" *dies*
after, we were inspired by julia's magic. so we decided to cook.
but first, i picked up pavel from cousin.
we then serched for a vegetarian friendly recipe (ugh such a burden): eggplant quiche
off to albertsons. we took ages to find puff pastry for the crust. and i almost died when i slipped into a spill of water (unmarked by those warning signs) that was my college tuition waiting....merde.
we got home started prepping.
quaint-cozy home. it was refreshing from my usually asian-friendly sights.
took us about 2-3 hours to make. but hey, it was perfect. a little wild n the butter dotting but oh-so riche
with the leftover pastry dough, i made mini croissants that i stuffed with chucks of chocolate anthony loved them) then i found out mrs. P was alergic to wheat. *mental note*
but yeah - exaustion, memories, chats.
good day.
répétez svp?
i wish. i think i have one more time left with. *sigh*
